Following on from the success of two courses, Speech and Language Support in the Classroom and Speech and Language Support for Under 5s, we have developed an accredited ten week course for practitioners working with 11-16 year old students. It has been written so that speech and language therapists and teaching advisors can teach it is their locality under license. The package has been received enthusiastically.
What do participants receive?
- Teaching from qualified speech and language therapists and advisory teachers. They provide training to support the communication of all students but especially those with speech and language difficulties in settings for 11-16s.
- Our book Secondary Language Builders which forms the core reading material for the course. It is full of practical advice and ideas.
- Accreditation through Open College Network (OCN) at either level two or three, the individual chooses the level under the guidance of the Elklan tutor.
- Support needed to write a portfolio to achieve accreditation though the Open College Network.
- Opportunities to meet other assistants and teachers and receive mutual support.
Who is the course for?
This course trains Teachers, Assistants and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants working with children in mainstream post-primary schools, specialist units and schools supporting children with moderate learning difficulties.

2. Speech and Language Support for Verbal Children with ASD
Elklan have developed this highly successful accredited ten week course for practitioners working with children with social communication needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It contains a wealth of practical ideas to support those who are working with verbal children with social communication difficulties aged from 4-14 years. There are ten, two hour sessions giving a total of 20 hours teaching. The courses have been written so that speech and language therapists and teaching advisors can teach it in their locality under license. The package has been received enthusiastically.

- Teaching from qualified speech and language therapists and advisory teachers. they provide training to support the communication of all children but especially those with communication difficulties caused by pragmatic language difficulties and features associated with ASD in primary school settings

3. Speech and Language Support for Vulnerable Young People

The course is for staff working with young people in youth offending institutions and prisons with speech, language and communication need (SLCN). It has been written so that speech and language therapists and experienced teachers can train in their locality under license. The package has been received enthusiastically.

4. Speech and Language Support for post 16's
